– Current airspace management and air traffic flow management system don’t have the capabilities to handle the type of operations relevant to drones. In addition, the anticipated traffic density of drones is far beyond the capabilities of current air traffic management systems.
– Air traffic management for manned aircraft is a very human, manual process, built to prevent collision between planes which is not the case with drones as they fly in low-altitude airspace, they will need a complex universe of data to map and understand the environment around them and tools to communicate with others in low-altitude airspace.
– UTM is the infrastructure that will allow a drone to exchange all of these information with other drones, manned aircrafts, airspace management services etc.
– DEEPAERO is building an AI driven, autonomous, self-governing, intelligent Drone/Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Traffic Management(UTM) Platform on the blockchain that will be able to ensure safe flights of manned and unmanned aircraft in the shared airspace. UTM platform will not require human operators to continuously monitor every vehicle. Two types of UTM systems will be developed:
